DescriptionProvides public information and education about AIDS and HIV with an emphasis on women and AIDS;
- educational retreats for women with HIV,
- referrals to AIDS service organizations in the Bay Area (including support groups).
- Offers support groups for people with HIV including ones for women, and heterosexuals. Call for schedule.
- Offers peer advocacy and support including assisting women in accessing services and accompanying them to medical appointments.
- Sponsors the HIV University which creates, organizes, and facilitates an HIV/AIDS education program for women with HIV. Course subject matter and program duration is agreed upon by the participants (students).
- Volunteers are recruited to provide the educational needs. Courses may be designed to meet the special needs of the students (i.e. foreign language translation, or oral instruction for those who do not read).
- Day care is available for children of the HIV University participants.
- WORLD publishes a fact sheet about women and AIDS. Publishes the "WORLD Newsletter," monthly, written by and for women with HIV.
- Offers speakers on issues related to women and AIDS.
- Provides a meeting room for community organizations. The room capacity is approximately 20 people. Fees are negotiable.

RegistrationAn application process assesses the needs and interest of each HIV University student. Classes are formed based on common interests and needs.
